Duplicating a livestream or video

In the dashboard you have the capability to duplicate a livestream or a video. This guide explains how this process works and which settings are applied to the duplicate version of the livestreams/videos when creating them and also if/when the original version is edited at a later time.

This duplication function makes a copy of the livestream feed or the video file, and can only be used for this purpose. It can't be used to make a copy the settings so that you can then change the streaming details, livestream name, date and time etc. for a different event/match.

An example of when duplication of content can be useful: When you want to create a duplicate version of an event/match that is hidden on the platform and only available with a direct URL (that you share to selected customers), which has different pricing/availability to the original version of the livestream/video.

How to duplicate a livestream

Go to Content - Livestreams in the dashboard.
Click on the livestream that you want to duplicate.
On the livestream page, navigate to the Share tab, then scroll to the bottom and click on the Duplicate button.
Follow the guidance of the on-screen pop up to complete the process.

The new duplicated livestream will now appear in Content - Livestreams, with the same date and time as the original livestream.

How to duplicate a video

Go to Content - Videos in the dashboard.
Click on the video that you want to duplicate.
On the video page, navigate to the Share tab, then scroll to the bottom and click on the Duplicate button.
Follow the guidance of the on-screen pop up to complete the process.

The new duplicated livestream will now appear in Content - Videos. If the original video does not have a manually-specified publish date and time, then the duplicated video will have the current date (i.e. today's date) and time. If the original video does have a manually-specified publish date and time, then the duplicated video will have this date and time. You are able to edit this date and time though (see below).

Note that it is not possible to make a duplicate of a duplicate. Only the original livestreams/videos can be duplicated.

Editing the duplicated version of the livestream/video

After duplicating a livestream/video, it will appear as its own item of content in the dashboard and you can edit all the settings like you can usually do for any livestream/video, by navigating to the Edit tab within the livestream/video content page.

Any changes that you make to the duplicated version will only affect this duplicated version and will not affect the original livestream/video.

Editing the original version of the livestream/video

After duplicating a livestream/video, the duplicated version will have the settings applied as indicated above in this guide. You might however need to edit the original version of the livestream/video.

The only changes that will also affect the duplicated version are:
Date and time (for livestreams)
Thumbnail (for both livestreams and videos)

Even if you have edited the date and time or the thumbnail in the duplicated version of the livestream/video, if you subsequently edit the date and time or the thumbnail in the original livestream/video, it will override the changes that you previously made to the duplicated version.

Any other changes that you make to the original version will only affect this original version and will not affect the duplicated version of the livestream/video.
